At first you may well be satisfied with switching the turnouts by hand but eventually, as your layout grows, you will want to operate turnouts by remote control. It is much more fun to control them in a more railway-like manner.

MOTOR WITH EXTENDED OPERATING PIN

Designed for use with PL-9 mounting plate.
Use this if you do not wish to cut a large hole in your baseboard. Drill a hole, 9.5mm (3/8in) through the baseboard beneath the centre of the tie bar. See Fig.2.
