- After the Meiji era, it became the jurisdiction of the Army, but the castle tower pavilion and the tower group still remained, but it was destroyed together with many buildings in Hiroshima due to the bomb drop on August 6, 1945 (1945).
- The present castle tower was restored in 1958 (1958).
