――The Kumouni 81 type was introduced as a combined mail and luggage car for the 80 series trains of the Japanese National Railways.
――Six cars are manufactured as electric cars with both cabs, and they have both cabs with the same design as the 80 series, and feature two pantographs mounted on the roof.
――It was connected to the 80 series and was active mainly on the Tokaido-Sanyo line, and later transferred to Okayama and Kita-Matsumoto with the new performance of the same line and was active until retirement.
――In addition, the rest of the vehicles were remodeled into the Kumoni 83 type 100 series and were active until retirement on the Iida line.
