[About the actual car]
- Hafu 2688 is a third-class brake van, of which 84 were produced from 1899.
- The narrow double roof on top and the vertical siding on the wainscoting are the standard style for two-axle third-class carriages manufactured in the late Meiji period, and passenger carriages of this configuration can often be seen in old photographs from the late Meiji period to the early Taisho period.
