- Czech Sword is pleased to present two completely new 1/48 scale Stinson L-5 Liaison/Observation aircraft.
- The L-5 is a military liaison aircraft developed by the American Stinson Aircraft Company in 1939 based on the Model 105 civilian light aircraft.
- Although it looks similar to the Model 105, it has been completely redesigned to meet the needs of the US military.
- The L-5A, produced from 1942, was a tandem cockpit type, but the L-5B, which appeared in 1944, had a wider rear fuselage and a large door on the right side, making it possible to carry a stretcher or 250 pounds of cargo behind the pilot.
- By September 1945, a total of approximately 3,600 L-5s had been produced, making it the second most commonly deployed US military liaison aircraft after the Piper L-4 Cub.
- Approximately 300 of these were deployed to the US Navy and US Marine Corps as OY-1/2, and approximately 100 were handed over to the Royal Air Force under the Lend-Lease Act and served on the Indo-Burma front as Sentinel Mk.I/II.
- After the war, 35 aircraft were provided to the Japan Security Forces, and continued to be used until around 1958 even after the establishment of the Japan Ground Self-Defense Forces.
- Both kits come with a paint mask and three types of decals.
- When completed, the total length will be approximately 153mm and the total width approximately 216mm.
