my thanks go to gundam-mad in london excel for having this rare kit (hope you have patients as these kits have LOTS of VERY SMALL PARTS) might want two if you want the other version (i like this one best). head does seem a bit small compared to the box artwork though.

@kasmi: errrrr... its a plastic kit, what were you expecting? most promotional images they make are painted by pros, so unless they state no coloring required, its expected that you paint the kit yourself. But yeah, found the kitobukiya kits to be more fragile than bandai ones, have to be careful not to break the joint parts.

Kotobukiya just sucks in every kit I build. This is the worst kit I build of Kotobukiya. It was not fun, at all, and the instructions are not explicit. You need to use glue for the transparent parts, but the instructions says nothing about it- Also, the instructions manual print has a very phony quality and difficult to read/understand them. The material quality, is very cheap. This was not fun at all.

I recommend to avoid this "snap" kit. I have no idea what kind of retard designed chest assemble (step 2 in instruction) but it almost inpossible to place D2 into chest w/o breaking that chest. Also paint on chests of all 3 existing hexa mini figures kits are shitty and easy to scratch cuz its applied on rubber-like material. Be careful.

height of this model is about the same size as an actionman figure its really surprising how tall and stable it is but i did re-enforce the stands pin to make sure it did not brake, i was sold this ready made & unpainted (took it apart & painted it then re-built it) it was really easy to make. stands up without the stand to. i used SF3D kit transfers for the detailing as shown on the front box artwork, as no transfers are included.

unmissable kit (loads of parts but very easy to build) most parts make up the extremely high detail that you see, tiny parts make a big model and worth every pound, i could not get a red lining paint-pen to show up so i used blue instead (posca paint pen "light blue" was the only colour i tested that worked this well), its worth putting in the extra "lining" work or else it wont look as good, and this is my first attempt at this. very sturdy to. transfers not included,i used SF3D kit transfers.

Great kit. Love the details for the mouth, that can be slightly opened, and the entry plug, all nice. Needs some little paint details, for the knees and the horn, if you are not going to paint it. However I had the same problem as Xazen, one of my shoulders broke, I tried to use some cement to fix it but it still looms awkward. Hope that this won't happen with unit 02.

molds for figures would be more costly/labor intensive than mecha because of the curvy and wavy shapes with ABS you won't have to worry much about long term degeneration issues compared to PVC but PVC is still better when capturing more details such as textures in clothing, facial features and especially hair like with Gundam kits, looking the pictures of the "raw figure" vs "modded figure" pics on the box and promo pics tells you need to put in time and work to make it look real good

Few more images of the vanilla figure with some panel lining. As you can see, he's lacking paint inside his mouth, near his eyes, on his horn, and on the kneecap pylon things. That stuff aside though, he looks great! Be warned though- the hands lOve to pop off I have no idea why they can't just be ball joints.

What I love about this figure is that it still looks great without too much extra work other than assembly. The figure in the images I posted just has some panel lining and the it looks fantastic! The only things that irk me are the parts that require paint. Could they REALLY not just put the green stripe on the horn...?

Should be the best kit in FAG so far. Compare to Gonrai And Stylet, the color of the kit is almost the same as the cover. With a little bit paint and decal, it can be an awsome works. The joints are pretty tight, the bunny style is so kawaii. because of the long hair, it may be a disruption for making poses, but rotate the backpack a little can fix. The standing base include in the box is too small, need a nicer standing base. Overall, 5 stars! this lady is definitely worth to buy!

No decal.... that's weird because hasegawa is used to put some of them into their kit for extra details. Some decals for control panel and screens would been nice. And 2-3 decals for the outside, like the name of the mecha, the brand and a caution sign for the back would been appreciated as well. The price of the decal sheet for 1/35 mechatrowego is ridiculously expensive, being almost as expensive than the kit it is supposed to go with is a real shame!

Wave with about 2 dozens of staff pumped out this gem a while back. Good price. Lot of recessed lines everything including the inner side of the jetpack, under the cockpit. You can transform it into gerwalk with the purchase of a 1/100 Macross fighter jet. All necessary parts included. No stand, just the adapter. 5 hands with 1 holding the rifle. Good articulation. Very nice kit.

This was my first Kotobukiya build and I must say I am sorely disappointed. The joints are really stiff and the shoulders come off with the slightest movement. The top most torso piece doesn't stick well if it does at all, building the hands around the weapons is a hassle but at least they don't fall off so that's OK, though a pain to get them in there. Don't recommend this build because of it's many flaws, but if you can get past them, then go for it, the colors are accurate at least.

As the only injection kit in this scale, this model kit enjoys a very high price. Nevertheless, I can see Wave tried hard to lower the cost of the kit. Some parts are molded in a single piece instead of multiple pieces (e.g. S2 and the surface details on the missile pods.) This approach reduces the cost but compromises the finish of the kit. After all, I am pleased to see this kit in the market, good job Wave!

Kotobukiya brought the protagonist Dolores of Zones of the Enders to scale modelers. High price. Big box. Flip-up Japanese instructions. Part trees in individual bags. Parts nearly perfectly colored molded. 2 pilot figures. 3 pairs of hands. 3 weapon hands. Transformation between unarmed & fully armed. Action base. Decals. Complicated assembly. Snap fitting. Amazing articulation. Opening cockpit. Painting is optional. Loved the kit.

I'm an inexperienced modeler, but I really enjoyed building the Blockhead. This is the first model I've built that I'm not completely ashamed to share pictures of. It's quite large compared to the Korchima and Dougram 1/72. The antennae were quite fragile (or I am clumsier than average) and I managed to snap both of them during assembly. I chose a couple of non-standard paint schemes, green tint on the visor and a metallic red for the body.

Fitting box art. Gigantic box. Snap-fitting. Parts in red, yellow, light gray, dark gray, black, white, clear blue & clear green. Factory painting (the eyes & light blue strips & markings). Polycap joints. Color instructions. Average articulation. 3 pairs of hands. The machine, designed by Masami Obari for pilot (figure included) Kohta Azuma, is equipped with Kaiser Boomerang (axe) & Over Kaiser Sword.

A great model, but has only 2 weapons. Still, looks great and feels great, but has the standard Kotobukiya problems: Be careful with the shoulder pieces- the ball they fit into is too tight, so sand it down before you even try to put the shoulder on it, or the whole thing will just stuck and break. Lost one shoulder that way, but at least saved the other one. The sole piece might crack a little as well- only happened to one foot though, the first one was fine.

Pros: Kotobukiya modern engineering, factory painting (even the eyes), snap fitting, pair of fists & palms, good articulation. Cons: whole leg can pop off when posing too much, upper shoulder claymore hatches pop off every time they open, front skirt armors can't flip up after assembly. I did priming, shading, touching up, panel lining & sealing.

Wave, Founded in 1983, released this FSS kit in 2011. I love Mamoru Nagano's armor-plates-over-skeleton mecha designs. Not an easy translation from anime to a scale model, let alone it was done by underdog Wave. Box art used photos of the painted kit. No-frill instructions. Some fitment problems. No poles & holes in some parts. Gluing was a challenge. Huge amount of recessed lines & markings.

After a few more broken parts, it became clear that the gundam maker that I used is actually responsible for the cracks. So do not make the same mistake, the liquid oil-based gundam markers that are used for quick washing or panel lining, will eat away the plastic on Kotobukiya models. The regular markers work fine and do not cause any problems.

Overall a very intricate and beautiful model, but beware- some parts might fall to pieces, even without some obvious stress. This also happened to the knee joint on one leg. I would suggest to sand down the knee pegs a little, to avoid that, since they are too tight, and the plastic just shatters. So, overall, the detail and the design are really amazing, but unfortunately it is too brittle to play with, like the gundam models, so have some glue on hand.

One of the Tactical Surface Fighters In the Muv-Luv: Alternative franchise is Shiranui Vanguard. The Kotobukiya kit was filled to the brim. Instructions were simple to follow, not overly crammed. Color molding. Water decals offered 10 pilot markings. Huge folding shield. 2 Melee Halberds. 2 Assault Cannon. No daggers. 3 BETAs. So so articulation. I changed the color scheme to Shin Shiranui & modified it quite a bit.

One of the Muv-Luv Tactical Surface Fighters is Shiranui Japan Empire Custom. Kotobukiya first released this kit in 2012. My copy didn't include BETA. I'm not sure why they don't make a weapon + BETA set & sell it separately like High Grade Build Custom. The cheaper TSF kits don't have all the arsenal. This TSF is a very simple build. I changed the color scheme to that of old Imperial Japanese warplanes, shaded, weather & sealed the model.

Kotobukiya has been producing lines of scale models kits since 1983. One of them is Muv-Luv. The mecha is called Tactical Surface Fighter. The Tarisa Manandal was made of quality material, full of details, equipped with 2 Jump Units (propulsion), 2 Assault Cannons (rifles), 2 Melee Halberds (swords) & 3 hands. It has adequate articulation. Some clear parts. Parts of a BETA. The red one is Tsukuyomi Mana Custom.

Tomytec, founded in 1924, has been producing lines of toys such as Plarail (play rail), Transformers, Zoids, etc. One of them is Zoids Hangar. Package was small. Instructions were Japanese. Minimal to non-existent mold lines. Assembly was easy & snap-fitting. Lot of panel lines & details. Modular design. You can glue multiple bases or just lay them together. At least 2 bases needed to fit 1/144 gunpla or 1 base for the Loto in my photos.

Engineering scale models since 1983, Kotobukiya portrayed the Takemikazuchi in a realistic form. The mecha hovering around the ground & flying in a squad formation in the anime is a sight to behold. This model has a few color versions. The red version is 00F Tsukuyomi Mana. The kit is comparable to a gunpla high grade. I'm liking Kotobukiya's scale models.
