P42, nicknamed as "Genesis", is a locomotive designed and manufactured by the General Electric Company as a trailer vehicle for passenger cars. Since its debut in 1996, more than 200 have been manufactured.

The "Genesis" locomotives, such as P42, P32 and P40, are quite popular for their smart-looking, european-type appearances, the kind not very often found among American locomotives before them.

Their arena is stretched all around the U.S. and Canada, trailing passenger trains with its high-power propulsion.
