- JR West 683 series [Thunderbird] began operation as a limited express train connecting Osaka and Kanazawa direction from 2001 (Heisei 13).
- As part of the opening of the Hokuriku Shinkansen from 2015 (the Heisei 27), the renewal of the vehicle began as a train connecting to the Kansai area.
- The appearance was based on the white body and the blue line, and the side also changed to the color which emphasized the large window.
- The symbol mark of Thunderbird on the side of the car body has become a representation with the copper color design used also for the Hokuriku Shinkansen.
- The interior became calm and tasteful design, and the seat of the green car was changed to a bucket type with more feeling of hold.
- This time, we will commercialize this renewed car with [basic organization 6-car set] and [3-car set set].
