-This is a vehicle manufactured by JNR for the purpose of replacing the Kiha 35 series used on the Hachiko Line. It was the first air-conditioned vehicle on the same line in the 0th generation with a toilet and the 1000th generation without a toilet, but the production was limited to 7 vehicles (4th 0th generation and 3rd 1000th generation). After finishing operation on the Hachiko Line, Kiha 38, which was transferred to the Kururi Line, has been in operation for nearly 20 years, has been transferred to Myanmar after two paint changes, and is still active there.

-We will re-produce the Kiha 38 series which was produced only a few in 2014. This time, JR East's new and old Kururi line color is newly added to the lineup. Both the Hachiko line color and Kururi line color will be sharply reproduced on a special printing press.
