[Actual vehicle]
――The ED72 AC electric locomotive is a passenger locomotive manufactured for the opening of electrification between Mojiko and Kurume on the Kagoshima Main Line, and 22 cars have appeared since 1962 based on prototypes (Units 1 and 2).
――Passenger cars in the Kyushu area use a steam heating system, and the ED72 is also equipped with a steam generator (SG).
――For this reason, the body length became longer and the shaft arrangement of B-2-B used the intermediate bogie (TR100A).
――At Units 18, 19 and 20, the steam generator, underfloor water tank, and oil tank were removed and dead weight was piled up.
――Three cars became common operation with ED73 and towed 20 series passenger cars with freight trains and power supply cars, but all cars were scrapped in 1982.
