[Historical background Siege of Tobruk]
--April 11, 1941 German and Italian pivots siege the Libyan city of Tobruk on the eastern coast of the Mediterranean near the Egyptian border, besieging Britain and its British federal forces.
--The first troops of the DFK (Afrika Korps), led by Marshal Rommel, arrived in Tripoli a month ago and launched an attack on Libya's Cyrenaica, which the British regained from the Italians on the North African Campaign.
--And soon Rommel launched an attack to capture the harbor. DFK broke through the front line around Tobruk on April 13, but was repulsed by British troops with considerable loss.
--On the evening of April 30, with the support of 70 tanks, the Axis launched a second large-scale attack.
――Although this attack broke through the front line, it caused more than 1,000 human casualties again and the attack failed.
--The British troops, which endured several months after that, launched a counterattack in several operations and finally destroyed the siege eight months later, and Tobruk was released on December 10, 1941.
