── White body 817 series 3000s. The front destination display is now illuminated with a new light unit.

- JR Kyushu 817 series 2000 and 3000 were introduced in 2012 with the aim of easing congestion in the Fukuoka metropolitan area, centered on the Sasaguri Line, Chikuho Main Line (Fukuhoku Yutaka Line), and Kagoshima Main Line.
- Compared to the previous model, the car body has been changed from unpainted aluminum to white paint, and the front design has also been partially changed from the previous design.
- All of the 3000 series belong to the Minami-Fukuoka vehicle district, and can be operated in conjunction with the 811 series and 813 series, and can be seen in up to 9-car formations combining each series.
