[Product introduction]
- A new development in the animal figure series, the "Hokkaido Animal Series," which focuses on animals endemic to Hokkaido and symbols of the northern wilderness, will feature a 1/150-scale product of the Japanese crane, a bird that spends the winter in the Kushiro Wetlands and other areas.
- The red-crowned crane is a large wild bird with a wingspan of over 2m and a distinctive red top of its head.
- The Ainu people worshipped this species as the God of the marshes because of its divine beauty, but at one point its population was reduced to the brink of extinction. Today, it is protected and kept in captivity not only in Hokkaido but also in western Japan, and has been designated a Special Natural Monument and included on the Ministry of the Environment's Red List.
- This is a perfect item to add color to the natural dioramas that can be seen from the tourist train in the Kushiro area, the SL Winter Wetlands.
- A total of eight figures will be produced, depicting the various poses of red-crowned cranes that can be seen in the vast marshland.
