──The express train [Karukatsu] that ran on the Nemuro Main Line

- The express train that ran between Sapporo and Kushiro was the Karikachi.
- The name comes from the fact that it passes through Karikachi Pass.
- From 1959 it was operated as a semi-express service, but in April 1939 it was upgraded to an express service. In 1961, regular service began with Kiha 58 series trains in addition to passenger cars. At its peak in 1980, there were three round trips of DC trains and one night passenger train.
- After that, in the timetable change in October 1981, it was renamed the express "Marimo" and its operation as "Karukatsu" came to an end.
