[Actual vehicle guide]
The Taki 3000 series was a 30-ton gasoline tank car that began production in 1947, and was a representative tank car of the JNR era, with approximately 1,500 cars manufactured.
Mainly used for transporting gasoline, some vehicles were also used for transporting chemical products, etc., but they were replaced by Taki 35000 and 43000, etc., and all were retired around 2000.
Due to the long production period and the wide variety of manufacturers, there were many variations in the tank body and various equipment.
There are many different companies that own tanks, and there are differences between companies in terms of whether or not they have a company crest plate and the shape of the plate. In addition, some tanks are transferred to other companies, and there are differences in appearance even for tanks owned by the same company, such as cases where the new company crest is displayed on top of the previous company crest plate, or cases where the company crest plate is left intact and the new company crest is displayed directly on the tank body.
The basic design of the Taki 3000 was also used for other tank cars, and there were many tank cars with a similar appearance, such as the Taki 1500, which was designed for heavy oil, and the Taki 5200, which was designed for methanol.
