Product Description

Equipped with four twin 38cm main guns and with a standard displacement of over 40,000 tons, the Bismarck was the largest battleship in the world at the time, and was commissioned in August 1940. Along with its sister ship, the Tirpitz (commissioned in February 1941), it was expected to become a central force in the German Navy, but in May 1941, during Operation Rheinübung in the North Atlantic, it sank the battlecruiser Hood, a symbol of the Royal Navy at the time, with a single shot in its first battle, but was subsequently attacked by a British fleet in pursuit of the Bismarck, meeting its demise.
