- As Japan's only fighter equipped with a liquid-cooled engine during the Greater East Asian War, the Type 3 fighter [Hien] was active as one of the army's main fighters from 1943.
- Although there was a problem with the reliability of the engine due to the low industrial power at the time, it was active until the end of the war with excellent maneuverability and stability as well as speed and maneuverability.
- Type 1 B is the second mass-produced type, equipped with a total of four 12.7 mm cannons on the fuselage and main wings. It was mainly deployed in the direction of New Guinea.
- Type 1 Hei is a type equipped with a high-performance German Mauser cannon (Mauser MG151) on the main wing.
