Product Description

[The world's largest submarine aircraft carrier]
- The Japanese Navy's I-400 class submarine was built as a submarine aircraft carrier unlike any other in history, launching three special attack aircraft "Seiran" from a submarine capable of covert operations.
- With a total length of 122m, a total width of 12m, and an underwater displacement of 6,560 tons, it was comparable to a destroyer and was the largest in the world at the time.
- In addition, it has a long range that allows it to sail around the world without calling at any port, and it was never a dream to launch a surprise attack on the East Coast of the United States or the Panama Canal, a key Allied force.
- The first ship, I-400, was completed in December 1945, at the end of the Pacific War. Together with the second ship, I-401, the war ended while they were on their way to attack the American task force at Ulithi Atoll, and they never saw any actual combat. I never experienced it.
- However, its performance demonstrated the superior technological capabilities of the Japanese Navy to the world, and is said to have led to the later concept of strategic missile nuclear submarines.

One of the best quality model from Tamiya. Very good fitting, and fun to built from start to finish. PE parts are excellent . I airbrush this model with Tamiya XF-75 IJN Grey (Kure Arsenal) and a mix of XF-7 flat red & XF-9 hull red for the lower part of the hull.
This model is highly recommeded for 1/350 ship collectors.
