--USS Salem CA-139 is a US Navy heavy cruiser and the second Des Moines-class heavy cruiser.
--Launched in July 1945, named and launched in March 1947, and put into service in May 1949.
――With the world's first autoloader-equipped main gun that uses a cased charge, the ship has been dedicated to training exercises and rescue missions, mainly in Europe, after commissioning.
――Retired in January 1959 without experiencing any actual battle, and after being preserved in Mothball, it has been opened to the public as a museum ship in Quincy, Massachusetts since October 1994.
