--At around 9:50 am in 1942, the Japanese Navy destroyer [Thunder] was sunk during the Battle of the Java Sea the day before, and was a crew member of the British heavy cruiser [Exeter] and the British destroyer [Encounter]. I encountered a scene where 400 people were drifting.
-Lt. Col. Kudo, the captain of [Thunder], struck the 3rd Fleet Command and lifted 422 people onto the ship to rescue the drifting Royal Navy soldiers.
――The Japanese Navy refrained from disclosing this historical fact in consideration of the public sentiment from the anti-British and American media reports, and did not treat the rescued crew as prisoners of war, but handed them over to the neutral country ship after the rescue.
