[Actual vehicle]
――The ED77 type electric locomotive is an AC electric locomotive manufactured by JNR since 1967.
――A thyristor-controlled locomotive manufactured for the sub-trunk line where the shaft weight is limited. Units 1 to 14 were manufactured in 1967 and Unit 15 was manufactured in 1970 for the opening of the Ban-Etsusai Line electrification.
――It is a mass-produced vehicle manufactured based on the thyristor control prototype ED93 that appeared in 1965, but the front is a penetration type so that it can be operated in double heading, and it is equipped with a double heading control device.
――The intermediate bogie has a 4-stage switching system with a axle load of 14 to 16.8 tons so that it can be used in common on both main and sub-main lines.
――It was located in the Fukushima engine district and was used for passenger trains and freight trains on the Ban-Etsusai Line, but it was replaced by ED75 and was scrapped by 1993.
