- The Br-5 was the largest large-caliber field mortar in the Soviet Union at the time.
- 14.2 caliber 279.4 mm (11 inch) tracked carriage could travel at speeds of 5-8 km over short distances.
- For long distances, the barrel and carriage were mounted separately on special carriages and traveled 25 km.
