- In the 1950s, JNR planned to further increase the speed of freight trains, and the 10000 series freight cars were developed.
- Smaller than the current JNR Class 1 container can be loaded, and 5 Koki 10000 without a conductor's room could be loaded.
- Later, when the container standard shifted to the second type, which is larger, the Koki 10000 was remodeled to load 4 pieces, but due to the dead space and special running device, there were restrictions on operation, and it gradually came into use. All cars were discontinued in 1996 in the form of being replaced by the successor Koki 100 series.
