Product Description

[Actual vehicle guide]
- [Wa 1 type 5490] stored in the Freight Railway Museum (Inabe City, Mie Prefecture) is an 8-ton boxcar manufactured by Niigata Iron Works in 1906 (Meiji 39) and owned by Hokuetsu Railway. After nationalization, during the Taisho period, the capacity was increased to 10 tons. Various parts such as the steel pillars were modified in the early Showa era, and it was used in various places, and was transferred to Omi Railway after the war. The exhibited vehicle was put into storage in 2004 (Heisei 16), and from November 2007 (Heisei 19), museum volunteer staff underwent a one-year restoration work to restore it to its original appearance.
