- The 981 tank carrier is a 12t6x4 tractor manufactured by American Diamond-T Motor between 1941 and 1945.
- This vehicle was used as an M19 tank carrier in combination with a 45t 24-wheel trailer.
- Developed at the request of the British Army, which was deploying the old Scammell Pioneer tank carrier, it was immediately given to the British Army under the Lend-Lease Act and demonstrated its performance in the North African War.
- The M19 tank carrier was also supplied to the Soviet Army, and the Soviet Union, which evaluated its performance, produced a de facto copy, the YaAZ-210G.
- The 981 Tractor was a six-wheeled tractor with a front winch and a Hercules DFXE diesel engine driving the four rear wheels, giving it a maximum towing capacity of over 54 tonnes.
- This vehicle was capable of carrying 45 tons of payload, including its own weight, and was capable of transporting most of the armored fighting vehicles of the American and British forces during the war.
