- The 209-500 series is a train that was introduced in 1998.
- In 2008, four trains were introduced to the Keiyo Line, transferred from the Keihin-Tohoku and Negishi Lines to replace the 201 Series.
- After the introduction of the E233-5000 series, three sets were transferred to the Musashino Line, leaving one set as a spare.
- The only remaining 209-500 series on the Keiyo Line has since undergone major equipment upgrades and is now in operation alongside the E233-5000 Series, and is in service on the Keiyo Line, Sotobo Line, and Uchibo Line.

- Following the E231 series, the front shape has been revised, and the platform detection device has also been reproduced with a new shape different from that of the E231 series.
- The front display part also reproduces the three-digit operation number display part, which is different from the E231 series, by newly manufacturing it.
- The shape of the side has been revised, and the door edge shape, which is the biggest feature of the 209-500 series and is different from the E231 series, has been reproduced by a new production.
- The position and shape of the door cocks have also been revised to more accurately reproduce the 209-500 series.
- The roof and air conditioner will also be newly produced, aiming to recreate a distinctive form that differs from the E231 series.
・Optimized the installation position of radio antennas and signal pipes
The shape of the cooler has also been revised, and the bead of the groove is also reproduced.
