[About the actual machine]
- Among the F-15 Eagles still in operation as the Japan Air Self-Defense Force's main fighter aircraft, the Aggressor Spec F-15J Eagles belonging to the Air Training Group, which is home to some of the most skilled pilots, are known for their unique paintwork and markings.
- The aggressor (virtual enemy) unit in the Japan Air Self-Defense Force was established in 1981. Until 2014 it was called the Flight Training Squadron, and after that it was called the Flight Training Group.
- Their main mission is to conduct aerial combat training with each fighter unit, and they are known as an elite unit equipped with dedicated aircraft and experienced pilots.
- The F-15 Eagles used there have a variety of special paint jobs that are different from the normal F-15s to make them easier to identify in the air. Due to their unique coloring, they are one of the most popular aircraft in the Japan Air Self-Defense Force.
- The Japan Air Self-Defense Force sometimes uses ACMI, an Air Combat Maneuver Measurement Instrument, to record speed and attitude during aerial combat training for fighter jets.
