[About the actual car]
The Eastern Front was covered in rain, snow and mud. Wheeled vehicles had difficulty in resupplying and towing goods, so the RSO tractor was developed as a countermeasure. As the name RSO RaupenSchlepper Ost (Eastern tracked tractor) suggests, it was a tracked tractor that could withstand the muddy roads of the Eastern Front. Taking advantage of its low cost and simple structure, it was mass-produced and sent to the front line. Variations were also produced, including the gasoline-engine RSO/2, the diesel-engine RSO/3, and a self-propelled gun type equipped with a 75mm PaK 40 anti-tank gun and an anti-aircraft machine gun. Its high maneuverability in muddy areas made it effective as a towing vehicle for various guns.

[About the model]
This is a plastic model assembly kit that reproduces the RSO developed and used by the German army during World War II in 1/35 scale. The body of the vehicle is a general-purpose tractor, and not only does it have the distinctive style of the RSO, but it also reproduces in detail the fighting compartment, chassis, engine, transmission, and drive shaft. Of the various types, the RSO/3 equipped with a diesel engine is modeled as an anti-aircraft self-propelled artillery vehicle equipped with a 2cm anti-aircraft machine gun. Not only does the vehicle accurately reproduce the simple body shape composed of flat surfaces, but the internal mechanisms such as the engine and gearbox are also modeled.
