Introducing the completely new 1/72 Northrop M2-F2/F3 lifting body experimental aircraft from AMP of Ukraine.
The M2-F2 was a lifting-body aircraft based on research at NASA's Ames and Langley Research Centers. The aircraft was manufactured by Northrop and first flew in 1966.
The M2-F2, an all-metal airframe equipped with a powerful rocket engine, was severely damaged in an accident during testing, but was subsequently repaired and reborn as the M2-F3.
At that time, a third vertical stabilizer was installed between the two tails to increase stability.
Lessons learned from the M2-F2 accident were applied to the design of other lifting-body aircraft, and the M2-F3 continued flight tests after 1970, with flight data used to develop technology for Earth-return vehicles.
The footage of the M2-F2's landing accident was later used as the opening sequence for a science fiction TV drama.
The kit comes with etched parts, a 3D printed ejection seat and one decal.
The kit can be built as either the M2-F3, which has a vertical stabilizer in the center of the rear of the fuselage, or the M2-F2, which has no vertical stabilizer.
