The F/A-18E/F Super Hornet was developed as an advanced version of the F/A-18C/D Hornet and began deployment in 1999.
Compared to the C/D type, the aircraft is larger and the fuel tank capacity is increased, thereby extending the range.
Equipped with two F414-GE400 turbofan engines.
The armament consists of a fixed 20mm M61A1 Vulcan cannon, and the enlarged aircraft has been equipped with 11 additional hardpoints, which are said to be capable of housing most of the weapons used by the United States.
It is a multirole aircraft capable of performing a variety of missions and is therefore highly versatile.
VFA-115 Eagles, which has been operating the F/A-18E since 2002, was founded in 1942 as VT-11, became VA-12A in 1946, and VA-115 in 1948, and expanded into the attack squadron VFA-115 in 1996. The squadron is currently based at Iwakuni Air Base in Japan.
