Product Description
Introducing a completely new injection kit from A-Model of Ukraine.
The RDS-6s was the weapon used in the Soviet Union's first nuclear fusion weapon test, conducted in August 1953.
The Soviets touted the RDS-6s as their first hydrogen bomb, but in reality it was a boosted fission weapon that also produced some fusion reactions, and its yield was about 1/26 of the Ivy Mike device tested by the United States in 1952.
The RDS-6s used layers of uranium-235, a fission fuel, and lithium-6 deuteride, a fusion fuel, known in the Soviet Union as the suloikka, or layer cake, design.
A similar design had previously been theorized in America as an alarm clock type device, but was never actually tested.
Although the RDS-6s was not a true hydrogen bomb, its power was exaggerated to megaton levels in Soviet diplomatic propaganda, and it was promoted as a hydrogen bomb with a different operation than America's first thermonuclear weapon.
The RDS-27, developed from the RDS-6s, was tested in 1955 as a warhead for the R-7, the Soviet Union's first intercontinental ballistic missile, but like the RDS-6s, it was never fully deployed.
The kit comes with a special dolly and etched parts.
