- The F-4EJ Phantom II is an interception (attacking enemy aircraft by scramble etc.) fighter adopted by the Japan Air Self-Defense Force based on the F-4E developed in the United States.
- Due to the situation in Japan at the time, the bombing control device and aerial refueling device have been removed.
- Others are almost the same aircraft as the F-4E type of the US military.
- The F-4EJ went into production in Japan halfway through, and the final production aircraft was the last of all Phantoms. (Total production of all Phantoms: 5,195)
- F-4EJ was deployed to bases all over Japan, but now the aircraft is old and some have been remodeled into F-4EJ Kai and reconnaissance RF-4EJ.

- The McDonnell Douglas F-4E Phantom II is an advanced version of the US Air Force's F-4C/D fighter-bomber and is the first Phantom II to be equipped with a 20m/m Vulcan cannon.
- For the E-type production block 48 and later, the main wing leading edge flaps have been modified to leading edge slats to improve air combat performance.
- In addition, the target identification device TISEO is installed on the left main wing leading edge, and the ARN-101Mod antenna is additionally installed on the back of the fuselage.
