Product Description
The 3rd of the Sendai-class light cruiser of the Japanese navy, this ship was named
after the Nakagawa, or the Naka river, in Tochigi prefecture.
Having suffered a severe damage by the Great Kanto Earthquake while it was under
construction, Naka had to be reconstructed before the launch.
With its double-curve bow it had an appearance unlike other cruisers of the same class.
It received a torpedo attack by a US-navy submarine in the South Pacific in 1942, and,
in the reparation process, Naka had its 13mm guns in front of the bridge replaced with
more powerful 25mm guns.
This item is modeled on this later version.
