-The EF63 type electric locomotive was developed as an auxiliary machine for trains running between Yokogawa Station and Karuizawa Station (Usui Pass) on the Shinetsu Main Line, with a maximum steep gradient of 66.7‰. . Always assembled with two EF63-type cars, it was connected to the Yokogawa side of all trains running between Yokogawa Station and Karuizawa Station, and was active in pushing up (propulsion) the train going up the slope and towing the train going down. Due to the opening of the Hokuriku Shinkansen on October 1, 1997, the same section was discontinued on September 30, the day before, and the EF63 type was discontinued in 1998. The secondary form of the product is a group manufactured from 1966 to 1969, and the 18th and 19th vehicles are grape-colored No. 2 vehicles that imaged the appearance of the EF63 type in 1997 just before the discontinuation of the line.
