- After commissioning, advance to the Atlantic Ocean with the same type ship Washington. In 1942, it was deployed to the Pacific Ocean, and although it demonstrated its artillery power in the rebellious operation in the direction of Guadalcanal Island in August, it was damaged by the torpedo attack of the submarine I-19 near Espiritsanto Island in September, and retreated to Pearl Harbor.
