- Using the chassis of the Panzer III and mounting the main gun in a fixed battle compartment, the StuG III was created primarily to support infantry in close combat.
- Assault guns with fixed fighting compartments are easy to produce and can be equipped with larger guns, so about 10,000 of each type were produced by the end of the war.
- The number of production records the highest number among the German combat vehicles in the war.
- For that reason, a number of variations were created, but one of the initial production types was the C type, in which 50 cars were produced in April 1941. It was characteristic that it became like this.
- 150 D-types were produced from May to September 1941, and there was no difference in appearance except that they were equipped with an intercom.
- Both are equipped with a short-barreled 75mm gun Stuk37L/24 as the main gun.
- After that, improvements were added and it was active in infantry support and anti-tank combat until the end of the war.
