- A satellite communication antenna is built into the uniquely shaped nose, and the fuselage is equipped with an electronic optical/infrared sensor, a synthetic aperture radar, etc., and has the performance of autonomous navigation at high altitudes for long periods of time.
- Currently, it is in operation in the US Air Force, Navy, etc., but NATO, Germany, South Korea, etc. are also planning to introduce it.
- The Air Self-Defense Force introduces and operates three RQ-4B Global Hawks.
- In March 2022, the first aircraft arrived, and in 2021, a newly formed specialized unit, a reconnaissance squadron, is operating from Misawa Air Base.
