- The product we are introducing this time was jointly developed with Ukraine's GMU and will be released as a limited quantity product.
- The kit comes with GMU injection parts, photo-etching, decals, and the front part of the conning tower with a newly molded 3D printer-made four-type magnetic compass.
- The Kairyu is a two-seater winged special submarine/underwater special attack weapon that attacks enemy ships with torpedoes or ramming them.
- Kairyu was developed at the idea of Engine Commander Uichiro Asano, an instructor at the Naval Engineering School, and was called [SS hardware] during the development stage to maintain secrecy.
- This ship was developed as a kamikaze weapon for the decisive battle on the mainland, and by the end of the war, 224 ships had been built using aircraft parts, etc. at the Yokosuka Naval Arsenal, and approximately 207 ships were under construction.
- Unlike regular submarines, the Kairyuu was able to be built in a short period of time due to its simple structure, as it uses hydrofoils to ascend and descend like an aircraft.
- Also, the Kairyu has good stability and maneuverability, and because it is easier to operate than other submarines, it was possible to operate it after a short training period.
- Kairyu's armament consists of two torpedoes with a diameter of 45 cm housed inside the ejector tubes. Later, due to mass production, the torpedo ejector tubes could not be installed in time, so it was possible to equip the bow with 600 kg of explosives. It has been decided.
- Although the Japanese Navy established bases in various locations and deployed Kairyu, they were never deployed on a large scale in actual combat as a decisive battle on the mainland was avoided with the end of the war.
- The total length will be approximately 494mm when completed.
