[About the actual car]
- The King Tiger, a heavy tank equipped with a highly powerful 88mm gun as its main gun, was completed in 1943 during World War II and began to be deployed in combat from 1944.
- The main gun was the 71-caliber 88mm KwK43, which had a longer barrel than the Tiger I. Its power frightened the Allied forces.
- Initially, the turret designed by Dr. Porsche was adopted, but problems with shot traps were pointed out, and from the 51st mass-produced vehicle, the turret designed by Henschel was adopted. This Henschel turret type was produced until the end of the war.
- In addition to the power of the long-barreled 88mm gun, the turret had 180mm of frontal armor and the hull had a maximum armor of 150mm, making it powerful enough to withstand any Allied anti-tank guns.
- Although Henschel produced less than 500 King Tigers by the end of the war, those deployed on the Western and Eastern Fronts proved to be an overwhelming force against the Allied forces.
