[About the actual car]
- The Tiger I, a heavy tank developed by Germany during World War II, began production in 1942.
- Production continued until August 1944. The total number of vehicles produced during that time was only about 1,300, but improvements and modifications were made, and there were small differences in the specifications.
- The 88mm gun boasted overwhelming power as an anti-tank gun, and was used against the heavily armored Allied and Soviet tanks.
- In addition, it was equipped with heavy armor, including 100mm of frontal armor, to ward off Allied attacks.
- Once introduced, it became a fearsome force for the Allied forces until the end of the war.
- First sent to the Eastern Front where they struggled against Soviet heavy tanks, the Tiger I was then sent to the German Afrika Korps in North Africa.
- In 1943, the early Tiger I models deployed to the 504th Heavy Tank Battalion were deployed with the 1st Company to the North African front, while the 2nd Company's vehicles were deployed to Sicily, Italy.
