[Actual vehicle introduction]
- In 1963, three cars were produced: the Deki 200 series.
- This locomotive, which has a bogie with a special structure called an L-shaped axle beam type, was remodeled compared to the conventional DEKI 100 series, with improved power output, a rounded body shape, and the addition of two headlights, and became the basic form of Chichibu Railway electric locomotives thereafter.
- The body color was originally brown, but when the blue Deki 500 series was introduced in 1973, the Deki 200 series was repainted in the same blue color.
- Due to a decrease in freight traffic, locomotives 202 and 203 were transferred to Sangi Railway in 2000.
- The remaining No. 201 is mainly used as a locomotive for the steam locomotive hauling train [Paleo Express].
- Since 1996, the livery of the 201st locomotive has been changed to match that of the steam locomotive train [Paleo Express]. First, it was repainted in green with gold stripes to match the livery of the 12-series train at the time. In 2012, it was changed to reddish brown to match the repaint of the 12-series train. In 2020, it was repainted in black with a zebra pattern.
- With this black paint job, this vehicle is the first to feature the new circular, blue logo mark established in 2019.
