- Classy Hobby is pleased to introduce a new product, the 1/16 US Army M8 75mm Self-Propelled Howitzer.

- The M8 75mm Self-Propelled Howitzer is an American self-propelled gun developed during World War II on the chassis of the M5 light tank.
- In December 1941, a request was made to develop a 75mm self-propelled howitzer. The prototype T47 was built with an open-top, fully rotating turret on the chassis of an M5 light tank, and in May 1942 it was officially adopted as the M8 75mm self-propelled howitzer.
- After further testing and minor modifications, production began in September of the same year, and a total of 1,778 vehicles were manufactured by January 1944.
- Prior to the appearance of this vehicle, the US Army's mechanized self-propelled guns were the M3 75mm anti-tank self-propelled gun based on the M3 half-track, and the T30 75mm self-propelled howitzer. Compared to these, the fully tracked M8 self-propelled howitzer had superior mobility and the defensive capabilities inherited from tanks, and was used on the Italian front, Northwestern European front, and Pacific front.
- After the war, US surplus vehicles were used by the French and Vietnamese in the First Indochina War.
