[About the actual machine]
The F-104J Starfighter "Eiko" was a fighter interceptor used by the Japan Air Self-Defense Force from 1962 to 1997.
Development began in the United States in 1952, and the first flight was in 1954. It entered service with the U.S. Air Force in 1954. It had a unique style resembling a rocket with wings, and was equipped with a General Electric J79 turbojet engine. It boasted a top speed of Mach 2.
Besides the US, it was also adopted by Germany and other North Atlantic Treaty Organization countries, and was deployed by the Japan Air Self-Defense Force. The single-seat F-104J and the two-seat F-104DJ were deployed, and it is said that 210 F-104Js were deployed.

This is a 1/48 scale plastic model assembly kit that reproduces the F-104J operated by the Japan Air Self-Defense Force.
This kit reproduces the aircraft that was specially painted to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the 204th Squadron's founding in 1984.
The model's overall length is approximately 347mm, and the sharply finished parts are made by Kinetech, realistically recreating the distinctive slim and sharp appearance. Not only the shape but also the panel lines are expressed firmly, giving a real sense of the finished product. The reproduction of fine details is also dense, which is unique to 1/48 scale. The delicate expression of the interior of the cockpit, the landing gear, and the interior of the landing gear storage bay enhances the finish. In addition, the radar is modeled inside the nose cone. The air brake can be assembled open or closed, and the equipment cover at the rear of the cockpit can also be selected to be opened or closed.
The markings are reproduced using decals made by Cartograf of Italy, and are the special markings applied in 1984 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the founding of the 204th Squadron.
