[Product Introduction]
The 221 series is a DC commuter train for the Tokaido Main Line [Special Rapid Service] that was introduced in 1989, and was the first vehicle to be newly designed and manufactured by JR West.
Currently, they are in service in a wide range of areas, including the Kansai Main Line (Yamatoji Line) system, the Osaka Loop Line, the Nara Line, the San'in Main Line (Sagano Line), the Kusatsu Line, and the Kosei Line.
Since 2013, improvements have been made to the structure (renewal), and the front of the vehicle has been equipped with a fall prevention barrier, and the headlights have been upgraded to HID lights + fog lights.

With this product, the lightning arrester on the roof will be updated, and the content of the destination display stickers will be updated.
In addition, a slotless motor will be used as the power source.
Due to these changes, the part number of the basic set, the JAN code of each product, and the price will change.

Accurately reproduces the characteristics of a vehicle undergoing construction to improve its physical condition, including a reinforced front skirt, fall prevention guards, and HID headlights + fog lights.
The roof-mounted lightning arrester reproduces its updated form.
Each leading car has head/tail lights and front display lights (with switch to turn them off). The light units use white LEDs.
The fall prevention hood between the front cars is reproduced as a separate part.

Each car uses a body-mounted close-coupling coupler (without hooks). A power coupler is included for the front end.
The side destination display is reproduced in black. Side destination display stickers are included. Priority seat display has been updated to the latest version.
The front display is printed with [Q Yamatoji Rapid Nara]. The replacement front displays are [O Yamatoji Rapid Osaka Loop Line] and [F Direct Rapid Osaka] in the basic set, and [O Yamatoji Rapid Osaka Loop Line] and [Q Section Rapid Kamo] in the add-on set, as well as two blank displays in each set.
