Product Description
idola is a brand founded by Hiromichi Arisawa, a professional modeler who is a commercial sculptor and also writes how-to books on character model production.
Solid Hand is a detail-up part made by a 3D printer.
With humanoid character robots, the size and shape of the fists have a major impact on the overall impression of the model, so they are one of the key points for character robot modelers.
There are currently many aftermarket hand parts on the market that can be used to replace kit parts, but they contain a lot of detail and can stand out from the design of the main body when attached to the kit. Also, most of these are designed for robots with a height of around 18 to 20 meters, so if you use them as is on a smaller robot, the proportions can look unnatural.
Therefore, we have created a lineup of three sizes compatible with 1/144 scale, with a simple design that features only the minimum necessary details molded in order to blend in with a variety of robot character models.
If you simply attach the fist parts that come with the kit which are larger than the overall balance due to molding convenience or parts with holes in the fists to allow for holding weapons, it can ruin the proportions of the whole body or make it look less real. In such cases, you can use this part to make it look even better.
The product we are introducing this time is a product that was previously sold as a "Mechanical Hand" and has been significantly revamped with the introduction of the latest 3D printer equipment.
[Product Supplement]
Extremely small molds that are difficult to process by hand are reproduced with the precise detail that only a 3D printer can provide, while also adopting a simple design that will fit in with many character robot kits.
The size is designed for use with 1/144 character robot kits.
The kit comes with two pairs of gripping hands (left and right), one pair of flat hands (left and right), and the back of the hand made up of separate parts, so one set can be used with multiple kits.
The sizes are XS and M, intended for use with 1/144 scale character robot kits with a set height of 15m (kit top height: 115mm and up), S and M, respectively, intended for use with 18m and up (125mm and up) 1/144 scale character robot kits.
To prevent mistakes in sizing during storage or production, there are two designs (XS and M are simple designs, while S is a complex design with lots of details).
Parts can be processed in the same way as plastic models.
Cut the support material (pillar) at the bottom of the fist using thin-bladed pliers, etc., and shape it flat with a file.
The support material is only located near the wrist, so there is no need to worry about losing detail.
To remove any layer marks or dot marks that are unique to the model, apply #320 waterproof sandpaper to the surface, and then further sand with #400 to #600 to achieve a neat finish.
If the ball joint is tight, you can adjust it by filing it down with a file or something similar. If it is loose, you can adjust it by applying instant glue or something similar.
It can also be painted in the same way as a plastic kit.
In order to improve the adhesion of the paint, we recommend that you lightly wash the parts with a neutral detergent and then spray on a primer before painting. The upper part is a separate part, so it is easy to paint it in different colors.
Painting the joints in different colors will give them a more detailed look. Also, using metallic colors will add a nice accent.
If your fists are the right shape and size, your arms will look shorter, and if your arms look shorter, your legs will look longer, making you look slimmer and more proportionate.
Even if you think, "I'll make it straight," adding just the fist part will make it look cool and tighten up the overall image.
