The Panzer IV was a German tank of which over 8,000 were produced, and served as Germany's main battle tank until the end of the war.
The Ausf. F, which featured improvements to the armor and tracks from the Ausf. E, was fitted with a long-barreled 75mm gun for the first time as a Panzer IV midway through production; the long-barreled F was designated the Ausf. F2 (later renamed Ausf. G), while the short-barreled F was designated the Ausf. F1.
The long-range, high-power artillery fire of the long barrel made the British and Soviet armies fearsome.
