The E233 series 0 was introduced on the Chuo Line Rapid Service in 2006.
The T formation, which is primarily used on the Chuo Line Rapid Service, and the H formation, which can be split up and also runs directly to the Ome/Itsukaichi Line and Fujikyu Railway Line, are currently in use.
In 2022, the first Green Cars were introduced on the Chuo Line's E233 series trains with the aim of improving seated service.
Unlike conventional two-storey Green Cars, these cars feature doors that open from both sides to speed up boarding and disembarking.
Following test runs, the trains will be gradually incorporated into commercial trains starting from October 2024, with the addition of two green cars to the existing 10 regular cars to form a 12-car train.
The Green Car service began in earnest in March 2025, when the installation was completed on all 58 trains.
