- Cleveland is a light cruiser of the United States Navy and is the first ship of the Cleveland class light cruiser.
- The ship was named after Cleveland, Ohio, and is the second ship to bear that name.
- Cleveland was laid down at the New York Shipyard in 1940 and participated in the Battle of Rennell Island, the Battle of Villa Stanmore, and the Battle of Bougainville Island in 1943.
- In 1944, she participated in the Mariana Islands capture operation, and after the war, she supported the transport of Allied prisoners of war from Japan, and was retired in 1947.
- Cleveland received the Navy Distinguished Unit Citation and 13 battle stars for his service in World War II.
