- Aircraft carrier Soryu is an aircraft carrier built following Ryujo, and was built without being bound by the restrictions of arms control treaties. It has a displacement of 15,900 tons, a total length of 227.5 m, and a speed of 34.5 knots, making it a well-balanced medium-sized aircraft carrier. It was completed in December 1930 at a naval arsenal.
- After commissioning, he participated in the Sino-Japanese Incident, participated in the attack on Pearl Harbor at the beginning of the Pacific War, supported the capture of Wake Island, fought in various places such as the Indian Ocean operation, and participated in the MI operation (Midway Island capture operation) in June 1945. It was hit by a bullet and burst into flames during an attack by a US task force, and was killed in action.
