- In the history of electric locomotives in Japan, the presence of locomotives imported from abroad played a major role in the early days.
- Even after the domestic production of electric locomotives progressed, many locomotives continued to be used for a long time by having their electrical equipment replaced with domestic standard parts, and there were also locomotives that were sold to private railways after being retired from JNR and continued to be used.
- The JNR ED11 type is a D-class DC electric locomotive manufactured by the American General Electric Company in 1923.
- Initially equipped with a 600V/1200V switching function, it underwent various tests on the Chuo Line, Yamanote Line, Keihin Line, etc., before being modified to exclusively use 1500V and making its debut for pulling trains on the Tokaido Line.
- In the 1930s, it was transferred to the Chuo Line and put to good use, and after the war it was used to pull short-distance freight trains on the Ito Line and Yokosuka Line, among other lines, before being retired from JNR in 1960.

- This product is a shorty-style free-form electric locomotive inspired by classic American electric locomotives such as the ED11.
- The rugged style combined with a standardized pantograph is reminiscent of locomotives owned by small and medium-sized private railways after the war and shunting locomotives used on dedicated lines.
